RULES OF HAURAKI MUAY THAI

Hauraki Muay Thai is a place for everyone to train, learn, and grow. Respect the gym, respect your coaches, respect your training partners, and respect the kaupapa.

1. Respect comes first
Treat coaches, members, visitors and the gym with respect at all times. Bullying, intimidation, discrimination or aggressive behaviour outside of training will not be tolerated.

2. Leave your ego at the door
We train together, not against each other. Match your intensity to your training partner and never use unnecessary force to prove a point.

3. Listen to your coaches
When a coach is teaching or giving instructions, stop, listen and follow their direction. Coaches have the final say during training.

4. Be on time and ready to train
Arrive early enough to get changed, wrap your hands and be ready when class begins. If you're late, check in with your coach before joining.

5. Keep yourself and your gear clean
Clean training gear is essential. Keep nails trimmed, cover cuts or wounds and don't train if you have a contagious skin condition or illness. Gloves, wraps and protective equipment should be kept clean and dry.

6. No shoes on the mats
Keep footwear, food and drinks off the training mats. Water bottles are welcome in the designated area.

7. Look after the whare
Put pads, gloves and equipment back where they belong. Clean up after yourself and leave the gym better than you found it.

8. Sparring is controlled
Sparring only takes place with coach approval and supervision. Follow the intensity set by your coach and protect your training partner at all times.

9. Appropriate protective gear is required
Members must wear the protective equipment required for the session. Your coach may stop you from participating if you don't have appropriate gear.

10. Speak up about injuries
Tell your coach about any injury or limitation that may affect your training. If something doesn't feel right during a session, stop and let your coach know.

11. Fighters set the standard
Advanced and Fighters Class members are expected to lead by example. Maintain a high level of commitment, fitness, discipline and respect, and help uphold the standards of Hauraki Muay Thai.

12. Tamariki are here to learn
We expect our young members to listen, participate and respect coaches and one another. Parents and caregivers are asked to support coaches in maintaining a positive training environment.

13. Muay Thai stays in the gym
The skills taught here are for training, competition and self-defence. Using Muay Thai to intimidate, bully or deliberately harm others outside the gym goes against everything we stand for.

14. No alcohol or drugs
Do not train under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs. Anyone considered unsafe to train will be asked to leave the session.

15. We are one whānau
Encourage the person beside you. Welcome new members. Help where you can. Train hard, stay humble and represent Hauraki Muay Thai with pride.

TRAIN THE BODY. SHARPEN THE MIND. HONOUR THE SPIRIT.
